Nestled in the heart of Bethesda, Gregorio's Trattoria offers an inviting taste of authentic Italian cuisine with a neighborhood charm that keeps guests coming back time and again. This cozy yet elegant Italian and pizza restaurant at 4611-a Sangamore Rd perfectly balances a warm ambiance suitable for family dinners and intimate celebrations alike. The atmosphere is quietly refined, making it an ideal spot whether you’re enjoying a casual meal or marking a special occasion without compromising comfort — as one guest fondly noted, it’s a place where a 3-year-old is just as welcome as discerning diners.
Gregorio's menu is a heartfelt ode to classic Italian flavors, expertly crafted with fresh, quality ingredients and generous portions. The Veal Parmigiana and Chicken Marsala shine with rich, savory sauces that dance harmoniously alongside tender, perfectly cooked proteins. For pasta lovers, the Spaghetti Carbonara with its silky sauce and the creamy Penne Vodka offer deeply satisfying, soul-warming bites that are beautifully balanced, delivering comfort in every forkful.
Pizza aficionados will appreciate the vibrant Pepperoni Pizza, baked to a crisp golden crust with just the right amount of melty cheese and flavorful toppings, plus Gregorio's excellent Gluten Free Pan Pizza that thoughtfully caters to dietary needs without sacrificing taste. Fresh and bright salads, like the Caesar, Salmon, and the signature Gregorio’s Salad — packed with chopped romaine, feta, olives, and croutons livened by a balsamic vinaigrette — perfectly complement the richer dishes.
The beverages menu adds an elegant touch, featuring Italian staples like Pellegrino sparkling water and vibrant cocktails such as the Pisco Sour and Aperol Spritz, which transport you to a sunlit terrace overlooking the Mediterranean. Wrapping up your meal with the house-made Tiramisu or a tangy Limoncello offers that authentic, sweet finish you dream of when longing for true Italian dining.
Customer experiences consistently highlight Gregorio’s attentive and friendly service — whether it's Victor (or Vincent) personally ensuring your visit is seamless or the staff’s genuine effort in making every guest feel special. One reviewer appreciated the spotless, albeit slightly dated decor, describing the atmosphere as quietly elegant and comfortable. While the food met expectations with hearty portions and strong flavors, a few noted that some dishes lean toward familiar rather than groundbreaking Italian fundamentals — perfect for those craving reliable, satisfying meals without fuss.
Challenges with delivery orders have occurred, as with any busy neighborhood staple, but the restaurant’s willingness to rectify mistakes quickly reflects their commitment to customer care. Whether you choose to dine in or take Gregorio’s home with you, this beloved Bethesda gem offers welcoming hospitality, hearty Italian classics, and an ambiance that quietly invites you to sit down, relax, and savor each flavorful moment.
For those seeking a trusted local destination where tradition meets warmth and quality, Gregorio’s Trattoria remains a compelling choice. Great for families, regular pizza nights, or casual date nights, it’s a place that feels like home — with a little taste of Italy on every plate.
Our waiter Victor (or Vincent?) took very good care of us even though we weren't big-spenders drinking wine. The place has the knack of being quiet and elegant enough to be fancy, but we didn't feel we had to hide our 3-year old. Great food, great service -- we will return!
Great neighborhood spot. Pizza is very good, chicken masala and ravioli in rose family favorites. Very friendly staff. We order once a month at least.
Gregorio’s is a pleasant place to visit and dine. It’s clean but the decor is dated. The food was quite mediocre, but not bad. Portions are huge. Staff are very pleasant, but they need more. Prices seemed within range of the locale. If you just want to fill up on relatively decent Italian food, this is a good place to go. If you’re looking for knock-your-socks-off excellent Italian food, this is not the place.
Everything from the food, service, and atmosphere was excellent! We came here to celebrate our daughter's 5th birthday and they made it extra special for her. We will definitely be back!
We are guests from out of town and our hosts ordered delivery from Gregorio’s Trattoria for dinner last night. The disappointing part is that they messed up our order, we ordered two cheese pizzas and one sausage pizza but received three cheese pizzas. They were willing to send us the sausage pizza we ordered but it was going to be an hour long wait. Gregorio’s redeemed themselves since their cheese pizza was phenomenal. Excellent ingredients made the difference. Next time I’d love to try their sausage pizza!
It was a very nice meals, food was great. I do think they were understaffed a bit and the prices were also slightly higher than the menu. Not a huge deal, it was just the fact it happened. One person got a fairly poor beer and there was no beer menu.
We dine in or get take-out at least once a week from the Gregorio’s at Sumner Place. The servings are very generous - my wife and I can easily split many of the entrees instead of each getting our own - and I have liked everything I’ve ever tried there. The managers are attentive, the staff is friendly and the “bar scene” is always enjoyable, especially when Nick is working. So glad to have this local spot!
